12 servings

A nostalgic and crunchy homemade caramel corn recipe that is perfect for movie nights and holiday gatherings. This simple method yields a perfectly glazed, sweet, and salty treat.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 bags popped popcorn
  • 2 cups butter
  • 0.25 cups light corn syrup
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 dash salt
  • 0.75 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Divide the popped popcorn evenly between two 9x13 inch roasting pans.
  3. Combine the butter, light corn syrup, brown sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly and let it boil for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully stir in the baking soda until the mixture is light and foamy.
  6. Pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the popcorn in the roasting pans.
  7. Bake the popcorn in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring the mixture every 15 minutes to ensure even coating.
  8. Remove from the oven, let cool completely, and enjoy.

Notes

Be careful when adding the baking soda, as the mixture will bubble up rapidly. Use high-quality butter for the best flavor profile.
