Making use of leftover cabbage
Garlic Sesame Sautéed Cabbage
This version elevates basic cabbage with generous garlic and a balanced soy-sesame broth that creates glossy, tender-crisp leaves full of umami depth.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1/2 cabbage
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 garlic
- 1/3 cups chicken broth
- 2-3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
Instructions
- Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Mince half a head of garlic and add it to the hot oil, sautéing until fragrant but not browned.
- Shred half a head of cabbage and stir it into the skillet, cooking 3-4 minutes until it begins to wilt; season with salt and pepper.
- Pour in one-third cup chicken broth along with 2-3 tablespoons soy sauce and 1 tablespoon sesame oil.
- Cover the skillet and cook 7-8 minutes until the cabbage is tender yet still vibrant.
- Remove the lid, give everything a final toss, and serve immediately while hot.
Notes
A pinch of chili flakes or a splash of rice vinegar at the end adds brightness if desired.
