Cheesy garlic knots that are so good my husband can’t get enough of them. From elizabeth_wu on Instagram.
Ingredients
Dough
- 1 1/3 cups warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 3 1/2 cups bread flour
- 1 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
Garlic Butter Topping
- 1/2 cups salted butter
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cups parmesan cheese
- 3 tbsp parsley
Instructions
- Whisk warm water, yeast, and sugar together. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Then add in the olive oil, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and ½ the bread flour. Slowly mix everything together, and then add in the remaining flour until a shaggy dough forms.
- On a floured surface, knead dough for 5 minutes. Cover, & let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Cut the dough into 8 equal pieces, & roll each of them into logs. Flatten the logs into rectangles 1 inch in width, line some shredded cheese along the length of each one, & seal the stuffed logs lengthwise. Double-knot each log, & tuck the ends of the knots underneath. Place them 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
- Mix together the garlic butter topping ingredients.
- Cover the knots, and let them rise in a warm place for 30 min. Brush them with the beaten egg and the garlic butter topping. Bake at 400 F for 20 min. Brush them with the garlic butter topping again to finish.
