Savory Marsala Turkey Burgers
These juicy, flavor-packed turkey burgers feature a sautéed base of sweet onions, red bell peppers, and garlic deglazed with Marsala wine for a rich, gourmet twist.

- 2 lb ground turkey (85% lean)
- 1 unit large sweet onion, diced
- 1 unit red bell pepper, peeled and diced
- 5 unit large garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 0.25 cups marsala wine
- 2 unit large eggs
- 1 cups grated parmesan
- 0.5 cups italian seasoned breadcrumbs
- 0.5 cups fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 to taste salt and pepper
- 6 slices cheddar and american cheese slices
Instructions
- Sauté the diced onions and red bell pepper in olive oil over low-medium heat for 10-12 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Add the minced garlic and cook until the vegetables are translucent.
- Stir in the Marsala wine and butter, cooking for another 2-3 minutes, then set aside to cool completely.
- Combine the ground turkey and eggs in a large mixing bowl, mixing gently by hand.
- Add the chopped parsley, grated Parmesan, and Italian seasoned breadcrumbs to the meat mixture and continue to mix by hand.
- Fold in the cooled onion and bell pepper mixture, ensuring you scrape all the juices and butter from the pan into the bowl.
- Adjust consistency if needed by adding a little more breadcrumbs or Parmesan if the mixture is too wet.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 2-4 hours to allow flavors to meld and the mixture to firm up.
- Form the mixture into patties and grill over medium-high heat until cooked through.
- Top with slices of cheddar and American cheese during the last minute of grilling if desired.
Notes
Using a food processor to grate the Parmesan ensures a finer texture that incorporates better into the meat. Letting the mixture sit in the fridge is crucial for the patties to hold their shape on the grill.
