Variation of Maple Mustard Glazed Baked Salmon

25m
4 servings

A simple yet flavorful whole side of salmon baked with a tangy-sweet maple mustard glaze, featuring lemon and garlic for a crispy, golden finish.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lb side of salmon
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 4 minced garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Make 3-4 shallow slits (about 1/2-inch deep) along the top of the salmon fillet.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together minced garlic, lemon juice, maple syrup, whole grain mustard, and garlic powder to form the glaze.
  5. Place the salmon skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top and into the slits with half of the glaze, reserving the rest.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
  7. Switch the oven to broil on high. Brush the remaining glaze over the salmon and broil for 2-3 minutes until the top is caramelized and crispy, watching closely to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure the salmon reaches 130°F internally. Serve with roasted vegetables, a fresh salad, or grains for a complete meal. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days and enjoyed cold or reheated gently.
