6 servings

A comforting, cheesy casserole loaded with tender deli ham, tender potatoes, and a rich cream sauce, ideal for weeknight dinners or using up leftovers.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 cups deli ham
  • 4 cups potatoes
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup onion
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of the cheddar cheese until melted, then season with salt and pepper.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish, followed by half of the ham cubes and half of the broccoli.
  6. Pour half of the cheese sauce over the layers, then repeat with the remaining potatoes, ham, broccoli, and sauce.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Substitute frozen hash browns for quicker prep. Leftovers reheat well in the microwave or oven.
