Smoked Baked Beans

2h 15m
6 servings

Smoky, savory baked beans infused with barbecue flavors on the smoker for a perfect side dish.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 cans baked beans
  • 0.5 onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • pinch brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp bbq sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • pinch maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • pinch paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your smoker to 250 degrees F using your preferred wood pellets or chips.
  2. Dice the onion and mince the garlic cloves.
  3. In a baking dish, combine the baked beans, diced onion, minced garlic, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, and paprika.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste and stir everything together thoroughly.
  5. If using regular beans instead of baked beans, stir in the water to loosen the mixture.
  6. Place the baking dish on the smoker grates.
  7. Smoke the beans for 2 hours, stirring once halfway through for even flavor.
  8. Remove from the smoker once the beans are thickened and infused with smoke.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Start with 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and adjust to taste after smoking if needed.
