Homemade Mustard BBQ Sauce
Homemade Mustard BBQ Sauce
A tangy, slightly sweet Carolina-style mustard BBQ sauce — great on beefor as a dipping sauce.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1/2 cups yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp dijon mustard
- 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Add the yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup to a small saucepan.
- Whisk the mixture until completely smooth.
- Stir in the garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- Heat over medium-low, stirring occasionally, until the sauce just starts to bubble.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool
- Taste and adjust seasoning with more vinegar for tang, honey for sweetness, or cayenne for heat.
Notes
Keeps in the fridge for 2 weeks in a sealed jar and improves after a day as flavors meld. The Dijon mustard adds essential depth.
