Buttery, tender scones bursting with fresh blueberries and rich dark chocolate chips, perfect for a cozy morning treat.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.5 cups cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 0.5 cups dark chocolate chips
- 1 cups fresh blueberries
- 0.5 cups heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Cut in the cold, cubed butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Combine the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate small bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
- Fold in the fresh blueberries carefully to avoid crushing them.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape into a circle, then cut into 8 equal wedges.
- Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a little extra cream.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
Use frozen butter and keep all ingredients cold to ensure the scones stay light and flaky. If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw them before folding into the dough to prevent bleeding.
