Classic Tzatziki Sauce

A creamy and refreshing Greek yogurt-based dip featuring grated cucumber, garlic, and fresh dill, ideal for serving with pita bread, vegetables, or as a topping for grilled meats.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup full fat yogurt
  • 1/2 cup cucumber
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • to taste dill

Instructions

  1. Grate 1 medium cucumber, lightly salt and let sit for 5 min. Then squeeze out excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel to yield 1/2 cup
  2. Grate 1 clove of garlic finely, add a bit of olive oil and microwave for 15 seconds. Let sit. This will take the bite out of the garlic. You can also add lemon juice and let sit.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup full-fat yogurt, the squeezed cucumber, grated garlic, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and dill to taste (about 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill).
  4. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.
