Classic Tzatziki Sauce
A creamy and refreshing Greek yogurt-based dip featuring grated cucumber, garlic, and fresh dill, ideal for serving with pita bread, vegetables, or as a topping for grilled meats.
Ingredients
- 1 cup full fat yogurt
- 1/2 cup cucumber
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- to taste dill
Instructions
- Grate 1 medium cucumber, lightly salt and let sit for 5 min. Then squeeze out excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel to yield 1/2 cup
- Grate 1 clove of garlic finely, add a bit of olive oil and microwave for 15 seconds. Let sit. This will take the bite out of the garlic. You can also add lemon juice and let sit.
- In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup full-fat yogurt, the squeezed cucumber, grated garlic, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and dill to taste (about 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill).
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.
