Shan Chana Masala Chickpeas

A hearty Pakistani-style chickpea curry simmered with aromatic spices from Shan masala mix, perfect as a main or side dish.

  • 1 cup heapfull 250g chickpeas
  • 1 small 100g onion
  • ½ -1 cup oil or ghee
  • 3 leveled tablespoons 25g shan chana masala mix

Instructions

  1. Drain the water from the soaked chickpeas and add 8 cups of water. Boil for 2-3 hours on low heat until tender.
  2. Add the Shan Chana Masala Mix and stir well. Cover and cook on low heat for about 45 minutes or until the chickpeas turn a darker shade.
  3. In a separate pan, heat the oil or ghee and fry the diced onion until golden brown.
  4. Add the boiled chickpeas to the pan with the onions. Stir fry until the oil separates from the chickpeas.
