Mint leaf syrup and Mint lemonade

A refreshing mint leaf syrup that can be used to make a sparkling mint lemonade. From thrivewithcandicee on Instagram.

Ingredients

Raw mint leaf syrup

  • equal parts mint leaves
  • equal parts white granulated sugar
  • 2-3 lemons lemon juice

Mint Lemonade

  • ice
  • juice of one lemon lemon juice
  • mint leaf syrup
  • sparkling water

Instructions

  1. Wash and remove the leaves from the stems.
  2. Roughly chop the mint leaves to release their aroma.
  3. In a jar, layer equal parts of chopped mint leaves and sugar, then add a generous drizzle of lemon juice (2-3 lemons).
  4. Press gently, close the lid, and let it sit in the fridge for 48 to 72 hours, mixing daily.
  5. When the sugar dissolves and the syrup turns light green, strain and store in the fridge.
  6. To make mint lemonade, fill a large cup with ice, add the juice of one lemon, some mint leaf syrup, and top with sparkling water.
  7. Mix and enjoy.
