Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup melted butter until smooth.
- Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the sugar mixture, stirring until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined—do not overmix.
- Fold in 1 to 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, depending on your preference for chip density.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For chewier cookies, avoid overbaking and let them cool on the sheet. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze dough balls for up to 3 months.
