24 servings

These soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies are a timeless favorite, loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips and baked to golden perfection for that irresistible homemade taste.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 to 2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup melted butter until smooth.
  3. Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the sugar mixture, stirring until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined—do not overmix.
  6. Fold in 1 to 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, depending on your preference for chip density.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For chewier cookies, avoid overbaking and let them cool on the sheet. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze dough balls for up to 3 months.
