karen’s amazing pea soup

Delicious and easy recipe. Freezes well. Puréed is a fantastic early baby food

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow peas
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 12 cup water
  • 1 tsp chicken broth
  • carrots
  • celery
  • 1 onion
  • 1/4 cup barley
  • celery salt
  • dill

Instructions

  1. Rinse one cup of yellow peas and one cup of green peas (2 cups total)
  2. Bring 12 cups of water to boil and add peas, add 1 tsp of chicken broth (optional)
  3. Cook for 1.5 hours covered (I do partly- point of contention with OG recipe creator)
  4. Add a few carrots and a few sticks of celery chopped and one onion chopped
  5. Add 1/4 cup barley
  6. Add some celery salt and dill (fresh or dry)
  7. Cook for another half hour uncovered
