Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup (packed) brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg & 1 yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 dash cinnamon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it foams and turns golden brown with a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes; remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cooled brown butter, brown sugar, and white sugar.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, whisking until fully combined.
  4. Mix in flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Roll into balls and refrigerate for 20-30 minutes to help with shape.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Perfect for a snowy winter day! I added walnuts and ended up baking for 24 minutes.
